Of the targeted bird species 8 are breeding on the coast (beaches) or in coastal areas, especially natural habitat types like 1330 Atlantic salt meadows and 7230 alkaline fens and islands in 1150 coastal lagoons. The species are very specific in their demands to breeding habitats with regards to water levels and length of the vegetation and ground nesting birds and their breeding success are highly influenced by predation pressure.
The actions in this project are therefore directed at sites where one or more of the targeted species are recorded, or at sites that have the potential to be breeding habitats for one or more of the targeted species, if the proper improvements are carried out.
